Design and create your own weathervane out of copper. You will learn chasing and repoussé skills to form copper into a custom wooden die that you will design and make yourself. You will also learn how to make the chasing tools you will use for your project. There will be an option to make a free-standing base to display your weathervane at eye level in your home or make a mount to install it on top of a roof. Welding of the steel for the bases to support the weathervanes will be covered. Advanced Beginner and Beyond

James Masterson received his Masters in Metal from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio in 1994. He is currently the Shop Foreman and Lead Designer for the Blacksmith Shop at the National Ornamental Metal Museum in Memphis Tennessee. The Blacksmith shop works on everything from private commission work, to public art to restoration and repair work. Jim has been working full time for the Metal Museum for 18 years.
