In order to maintain the health and safety of our community during the COVID-19 pandemic, Peters Valley School of Craft has made the difficult decision to suspend all scheduled workshop programming through the end of 2020. Please visit our COVID-19 FAQ page
Why can't I access the workshop links in the navigation bar?
How soon do I need to register for a workshop?
We strongly encourage participants to register at least one month prior to the date. Supplies need to be acquired and instructor travel needs to be planned which can determine whether or not a workshop will run at that time. Registration is generally open until the workshop fills or the date it runs if seats remain open and the minimum enrollment has been met, but this varies greatly class by class. Some workshops fill within days of registration being open.
Are there waiting lists for workshops that are full?
YES! Please call or email if you would like to be placed on the waiting list for any workshop. Cancellations may occur right up until the date of the workshop.
Is there financial aid or scholarships available for tuition?
Financial aid is not available; however each year Peters Valley offers a very limited amount of scholarships to both High School and College students as well as Art Educators. Other scholarships are also available and vary studio and student prerequisites. Please see the scholarship page on our website for more information. All scholarship applications are due by March 1st.
What are the workshop times?
9am to 5pm each day with a 1.5 hour break for lunch. Studios are closed during meals.
Are the studios open at night?
Yes, most are open from 7pm to 10pm but it varies by studio and student demand. There may be an additional materials fee for evening work which varies by studio and workshop. Students are not allowed in the studio unsupervised.
Do I need to have a car on campus?
The Blacksmithing, Ceramics and Weaving studios are within walking distance of the dorms, dining hall, office and gallery (Valley Central). The Fiber, Fine Metals, Photography, Special Topics and Woodworking studios are located about 2 miles from Valley Central. Students are encouraged to carpool, and if you will not have a car on campus you will be responsible for finding a ride with someone who is housed in your dorm or that you meet up with at the dining hall.
Is there a supply store on campus?
No. Our gallery carries some emergency items such as aspirin, bug repellent, and toothbrushes but no workshop supplies. A link to the list of materials you will need to bring in addition to what is provided by the instructor and/or studio is located within the workshop description. Peters Valley is located in a very rural area, so please make sure you have everything you need before you get here.
Can I get credit for the workshops?
Peters Valley is not an accredited institution so college credit is not available. Peters Valley is a registered provider with the NJ State Board of Education so NJ teachers can earn required continuing education credits. PA teachers can submit their hours as independent study for possible education credits (Act 48) but due to changes with the PA Board of Education we are no longer able to offer Act 48. We are happy to discuss your particular continuing credit needs. Certificates of Completion are available to anyone for all workshops if requested.
