Learn the craft of bookbinding that can be an integral part of imaging a book. This workshop will introduce basic materials and techniques of hand bookbinding with the visual artist in mind. We start with simple folded formats and single section sewings to introduce the basics. Concertina albums, coptic sewings and more complex structures will further the library of ideas to spur the artist and photographer’s creative practice. The class will focus on physical considerations of the book, but strategies for uniting content and structure will be illustrated and discussed. You are welcome to bring your own ideas for books.
