Students will learn about the exciting basics of clay, and the many ways that clay can be shaped, decorated and transformed. Through various projects they will transform their own unique ideas into a 3D reality while learning hand-building techniques such as pinching, coiling, and constructing with slabs. Next, we will move on to the potter's wheel, learning to wedge, center, open and shape forms. This class is perfect for students who have worked in ceramics before, or beginner students just starting their adventure with clay. Students with prior experience will be encouraged to develop a unique body of work which reflects their own interests and skills. Using the natural environment of the park as our inspiration, an assortment of projects will be completed by each student and fired in the electric kiln.
