Join felt artist Shannah Warwick for a live demonstration of ice dyeing on silk organza using fiber reactive dyes. She will show the process from start to finish including setting up and fabric preparation, arranging fabric on wire tray, and adding ice. She will go over the dye recipes and amount used. And through the power of television (aka prepping ahead of time) the final product! There will be a question & answer session at the conclusion of the demonstration.
Shannah Warwick is a Fashion and Textile Designer living in the Woods of Upstate NY. She works primarily in Nuno felting and fabric dyeing techniques. She received her BFA at the University of the Arts and went on to receive her Teaching Certification from Moore College of Art. Teaching and Designing work hand in hand for Shannah as she continues to explore Fiber Based mediums. She enjoys creating curriculum specifically for a new group of students. Shannah's clothing line, BlckBts, is sold online, in specialized boutiques in Philadelphia and New York City, and at various Vending Markets. She has a darker sensibility with appreciation for avante garde construction. Her work has been featured in Fashion Magazines and publications. She feels her work truly embodies the term “wearable art.” Shannah looks forward to her first time teaching at Peter's Valley and bringing her students a slightly alternative and fashion forward way of expressing themselves through felting. www.blckbts.com
