Learn the skills of registration, carving a woodblock with relief tools and understand how to construct a graphic image with principles of figure and ground. The objective will be to use a matrix and produce multiple prints from the same block to reveal color from each layer. We will use non-toxic inks and there will be color assignments that relate to developing your unique voice in woodcut. This workshop is perfect for anyone wanting to try woodcut for the first time and for those who want to further develop their visual language in a new medium. Beginner and Beyond

Dominique Ellis received her M.F.A. in Printmaking at Tyler School of Art in 2013. She was awarded a U.S. Fulbright student scholarship for Egypt for printmaking, as well as an Arabic language grant for 2009-2010 and was based in Cairo, Egypt. She served as a U.S. Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco, from 2006-2008, working for the Moroccan Ministry of Handicrafts.
