This intensive virtual workshop will introduce you to the world of beautiful, accessible, and sustainable natural dyes. You will learn the basics of selecting and preparing fibers, extracting color from a variety of plant materials, and fixing natural dyes to fabric. Along the way we’ll discuss the history of natural dye use, and explore applications of pattern using both fresh plants and indigo. Each class session will open with a demonstration, followed by virtual open studio time for you to get your hands dirty and your questions answered.
A materials kit will be mailed to participants prior to the start of class and is included in the fee.
This class will be conducted live on Zoom. Participants will receive an email from Peters Valley at least 48 hours prior that includes a link and a password. Only registered participants will be admitted.
