For those of you who have always wanted to paint – or brush up on your painting skills – this workshop is for you! As a starting point, we will use your favorite photographs and respond to them by learning basic color theory, application and narration. Color mixing, composition and application techniques will be covered in this engaging workshop. There will be demonstrations, heaps of exercises, presentations and lively discussion around acrylic and watercolor painting. Beginner and Beyond

Kulvinder Kaur Dhew is a painter, curator, and educator currently living in New Jersey. She received an MA in Painting from The Royal College of Art in London, UK, during which time she was awarded a RCA Study Grant at Ar.CO in Lisbon, Portugal. A recipient of the prestigious Delfina Fellowship in London, Kulvinder produced large-scale works subsequently collected by MTV Europe, Kazuo Ishiguru, The UK Department of Education and Science, and others. While Head of Painting at The School of Art in Dunedin, New Zealand she began to take an interest in wilderness issues and then early alarm bells regarding climate change. Later, while living and teaching at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak on the Island of Borneo, she undertook a body of works exploring censorship related to the largest forest fires recorded at the time.
