Part I: Rubber Molds

Join metal artist Lucy Derickson for a live demonstration of pewter casting with rubber molds. In this first demonstration (of a two part series) you will learn strategies for making models from wax and found objects, that will be used to make a silicone rubber mold. Participants are encouraged to enroll in both sessions, but it is not required.
Lucy Louise Derickson is an artist, metalsmith and educator residing in Washington, DC. Currently, Lucy is the Coordinator of the Jewelry/Metalsmithing and Crafts Area at Montgomery College, Rockville Maryland and is a board member of the non-profit organization Ethical Metalsmiths (EM), where she works as the facilitator to EM Students. Having received her BFA in Jewelry/Metalsmithing along with a Teaching Certification from the University of Wisconsin–Milwaukee, Lucy taught K-12 art for two years. She then received her MFA from Virginia Commonwealth University in the department of Craft/Material Studies. www.lucyderickson.com
This live demonstration will be conducted on Zoom. Participants will receive an email from Peters Valley at least 48 hours prior that includes a link and a password. Only registered participants will be admitted.
