Bring your own unglazed bisqueware and fire it in a unique Mobileraku unit, developed by the instructor. Brett will discuss different glazes and decoration techniques, so you can glaze together in preparation for the firing. Presentations will also include the methods of Raku firing, the use of oxidation and reduction glazes and how to achieve base color and copper flashing. Ways to work with and control combustibles and post reduction, rapid oxidation and flashing processes will be covered. You will be involved with the always exciting firing process from start to finish with lots of time for discussions. Intermediate to Advanced

Brett Thomas is the founder/owner of Mobileraku, a traveling classroom. In 2005 Brett outfitted his mobile business which has reached out to all ages, schools, colleges and private studios throughout the east coast of the United States. Brett received his BFA from MICA Maryland Institute College of Art and an MFA from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. Currently, Brett is a full time artist who hales from Pennsylvania. In addition to Raku, Brett also produces contemporary serving vessels and contemporary trenchers. He also makes and designs American bonsai containers. www.mobileraku.com
