Learn the basics of plant dye on naturally colored wool yarn, develop confidence to create a diverse palette, and plan a dye garden for this summer. This virtual class will lead you the through essential steps to obtain colorful results. You will learn to clean and mordant your wool before dyeing and will dye fibers in a simple set-up that takes advantage of materials found at home. Plan to spend some time each day between sessions processing fibers, as natural dyeing is a time based process. Osage orange, logwood, and madder root, along with all the wool and dye assistants needed, will be provided in a kit that is mailed to participants.
In addition to the kit (which is included in the fee), you will also need to have the following on hand for the class: PARTICIPANT MATERIAL LIST
This class will be conducted live on Zoom. Participants will receive an email from Peters Valley at least 48 hours prior that includes a link and a password. Only registered participants will be admitted.
