Making a Windsor arm chair, rocker or settee will be a highlight of your summer. The project will be broken into many smaller steps to make it surprisingly doable over three days. This course is designed for anyone from beginning to advanced skill levels ready to work with a variety of hand tools to make a family heirloom. Projects will be well-engineered, very comfortable and artful. A mix of woods will be available for your project such as Cherry, Walnut, Pine, Poplar, Oak, or Ambrosia Maple. This workshop can be taken alone or in combination with the previous workshop featuring other Windsor furniture pieces. Beginner and Beyond

David Abeel, a woodworker from Traverse City, Michigan, recently retired from a 40 year career running human service agencies so he could work seven days per week doing what he loves most, making Windsor furniture. He teaches chair making classes in Michigan and five other states at folk schools, arts centers and community colleges. David has a Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Washington.
